The Four Schools
The different phases marking the transmission of Buddhism in Tibet were influenced by outstanding Buddhist masters.
This resulted in the establishment of a series of Schools defined by their specific transmission of the Buddhadharma.
Listed as they appeared chronogically, four schools became preponderant in bringing the teachings of the Buddha to the Tibetan population :
- The Nyingmapas;
- The Kagyudpas;
- The Sakhyapas;
- The Gelugpas.
